We're at the Capitol... and girl, it's not even session yet 🥲

Last week’s education hearing and Banned Books Week are two examples of how SEAT is demonstrating a commitment to student dignity and belonging.

SEAT joined partners from across Texas at the Capitol

Last week, SEAT testified to the Texas Senate on the discriminatory enforcement of the school voucher law and restrictions on students’ access to books.

We advocated for students’ opportunities to celebrate their cultures, learn women’s history, and build community through student-led organizations. Students deserve to feel welcome without having to defend their identities.

In the upcoming legislative session, our SEAT fellows from 40+ school districts and colleges will introduce bills, develop media strategies, and claim a seat at the policymaking table. Can you help our fellows thrive?

SEAT’s Azeemah Sadiq and Marshall Romero represented Texas on the national stage as Banned Books Week’s 2026 Youth Honorary Chairs!

They moderated author discussions and hosted a youth-led conversation on book bans, student organizing, and the freedom to read.
